Workplace Readiness
About this program
The Workplace Readiness Program is part of Grade Learning’s unique Ready, Willing and Able job coaching system – designed to help you find success as you re-enter the workforce. This program trains you in the key elements of on-the-job success, with a focus on communication skills as they apply to computers, co-workers, supervisors and customers.
Through this program you will recognize your employability strengths, minimize barriers to employment, leverage your personal network and understand how to safely and professionally return to work.
This program is for you if…
You are seeking an entry-level position or a quick return to the workforce. The program is ideal if you want to refine your work habits and “soft skills”, or if you need help adjusting as you return to work.
How it works
Our certified (B.Ed., TESL, Microsoft Office Specialist) teachers use reflection, analysis and facilitated lessons to help you enhance your current strengths and perfect your workplace communication skills.

About this program
Searching for and starting a new career is a scary process. This course focuses on practical exercises that will equip you to market your skills, find job opportunities, complete job applications, interview effectively and retain your new job. You will leave this program with a professional resume, cover letter, list of references and an understanding of your job market and field.

You are looking for a job, returning to the workforce after an extended absence or are currently employed but looking for a more challenging position.
How it works
Our certified (B.Ed., TESL, Microsoft Office Specialist) teachers lead you through the basics of finding a job, including written assignments, practical exercises, role-playing and practice job interviews. A portion of the course is dedicated to searching for jobs on the Internet, and in local community resources.

Work Placements
About this program
This course is only available to Third Party Registered Clients.
Our Return to Work Placements are designed to help you re-enter the job market, confident and well-prepared. We start with job counseling and guidance in preparation for your placement. Using our unique Ready, Willing and Able job coaching system, we assess your workplace readiness, evaluating the Essential Skills required for your desired job and assess barriers to your successful placements.
We design work placements your transferrable skills and job goals in mind. Once you’re placed, we monitor your placement carefully to make sure it’s beneficial to both you and the employer, and complete a monthly progress report to outline the technical and soft skills you learn.
*Our work placements are applicable to any NOC Code and are an optional addition to any of our vocational programs.

You are returning to work and would benefit for on-the-job training and experience or professional references.
How it works
Our experienced instructors and vocational specialists guide you through your re-entry into the labour market. The Work Placement program is individually designed and modified to suit your needs and the job market; your full participation in the process will be key to your success. Our goal is to provide you with work placement leads that will ideally results in employment at the end of your placement.
Timeline
- Our specialized training programs can be customized to fit your schedule and timelines. Please contact your local Grade Learning campus for more information.
- The Work Placement Preparation process will ideally start 5 months prior to your placement start date.
- Ideally, work placements range from 8-12 weeks.
- Placements can be shortened or extended to any length and can be integrated into programming upon request.
- Placement hours can also be increased incrementally to prepare you for the demands of full-time work.

Occupational Specific Work Preparation
About this program
The Occupational Specific Work Preparation program is designed to teach you the skills that employers in your field have stated are necessary for job success. To do this we utilize Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC)’s Essential Skills Profile in conjunction with work simulation activities, while providing you with the tools to develop employer networks in your industry.
This program is for you if…
You are job seeking, new to the workforce, returning to the workforce after an extended absence, or you are currently employed but are seeking a different position.
How it works
Based on your occupational goal, an Essential Skills assessment is conducted to determine your skill development path. Each job is different and Essential Skills requirements vary as a result.
- Skill Development Path – includes the following Essential Skills related to your employment: Reading Text, Document Use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral Communication, Working with Others, Continuous Learning, Thinking Skills and Computer Use
- Workplace Simulation – You will participate in daily activities to practice skills valued by employers in your field.
- Employer Networks – You will visit and engage in communication with local employers in order to establish a network to support and improve your employability prospects.
Timeline
There are five Essential Skills levels; our goal is to raise you one Essential Skills level in eight weeks.
