About this program

This course will prepare you to write the General Educational Development (GED) test, which allows adults who haven’t completed high school to demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills associated with and comparable to high school completion.

This program is for you if…

You have not completed secondary school and would like to obtain and Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate before moving on to college or university, or returning to work.

How it works

The program begins with a GED assessment, the results of which will be used to determine your current skill levels and the length of your program. Our certified (B.Ed.) teachers will lead you through a wide variety of exercises and activities to prepare you to write your GED, including explicit instruction in mathematics, reading, writing, science and social studies.

We use practice tests throughout the course to assess your progress and ease any test anxiety you may be experiencing. You will have the opportunity to learn and practice essay writing skills, effective studying and test taking skills.

Timeline

Individualized, based on assessment results and current level of academic functioning. This program can be customized to fit your schedule and timelines. Please contact your local Grade Learning campus for more information.

Prerequisites

  • To write the GED test, students must be at least 18 years of age and have been out of high school for at least one full year
