First $5,000 Grade Futures Scholarship
For Immediate Release: February 11, 2011
TORONTO, ON: Grade Learning, Ontario’s largest full-service education provider, announces Shire Sabtow as the first recipient of a $5,000 Grade Futures Scholarship. In 2010, Grade Learning launched the Grade Futures Scholarship Fund, which increases by $10 each time a social media user “likes” Grade Learning’s Facebook page. For each “Like”, $10 is donated to the Fund, allowing social media users the chance to give the gift of education with the click of a mouse. Each time an additional 500 “Likes” are achieved, another $5,000 scholarship is awarded.
Sabtow completed the short application process online just a few weeks ago and received news of the scholarship earlier this week.
“I’m beyond thrilled to have been selected,” said Sabtow who was already enrolled at Grade Learning as an alternative to traditional High School. “Grade Learning has been the greatest and most logical choice for someone like me who succeeds in smaller classes and benefits from one-on-one attention – I’m now determined, calculated and have a positive outlook about my academic future. I will be attending University in the Fall and hope to major in Commerce or Criminology.”
There are still four more $5,000 scholarships to be given away and there’s still plenty of time to apply. The simple application process involves a form and the submission of a short essay and is open to Ontario residents who are 18 and older. Check out Grade Learning’s Facebook page for details and to add $10 to the fund with your “like” www.facebook.com/gradelearning.
“It’s been rewarding to see Shire excel,” said Susan Holden, Regional Director for Grade Learning’s Ottawa campus. “Financial struggles are a reality for so many youth today – this scholarship is sure to ease some stress in Shire’s life, allowing him to prioritize his studies. We look forward to awarding four more scholarships to deserving applicants and are asking everyone to suggest Grade Learning to their Facebook friends and invite them to give the gift of learning.”
